CHASING GILDED SKIES

Welcome to Your Solo Travel Haven

This is where the chaotic meets curious, where golden hour lingers longer, and where women like you find the tools, inspiration, and confidence to wander well—solo. Whether you're mapping your first adventure or your fiftieth, you're in the right place.

A space built for us

You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to begin.

For the ones chasing the sun across time zones. For the ones learning to trust their gut (and the Google Translate app). For the quiet joys and the loud ones, the museum days and mountain hikes and spontaneous dance parties on hostel rooftops. This little corner of the internet is for anyone who's ever stared at a map, heart racing, and thought: What if I just went?
Whether you're planning your first solo trip, dreaming up your next escape, or deep in the “this is fine” chaos of travel planning—I'm so glad you're here.

Why I started this

This idea was born from a teenage dream and a well-worn passport, but more than that, it’s a love letter to the versions of us bold enough to go it alone.

It’s about quiet mornings in unknown cities, unexpected laughter with strangers, and the steady glow of self-trust. Every journey here started with a camera and a question: what if I just went anyway?

Stick around. Get lost with me and let's chase some gilded skies together.

Who's behind the camera?

Hey, I'm Sophie!

Solo travel enthusiast, part-time castle chaser, full-time believer that snacks fix most things. I started Chasing Gilded Skies as a place to share stories from the road, tips that actually help, and photos that feel like sunshine bottled up. When I travel, I’m all about: - Wandering side streets until I find the best bread in town - Saying yes to the weird museum no one else wanted to see - Learning from local artists, makers, and storytellers who shape the soul of a place - Late-night markets, seaside cocktails, and overly enthusiastic hiking attempts - Making friends with every dog, cat, and grandmother I meet along the way Whether I’m off-roading in a rental car or painting on a rainy afternoon, solo travel reminds me that the world is wide and wonder-filled—and yours to explore, even if you're figuring it out as you go.

My bucket list

✓ Peru - to bring home hand-dyed alpaca yarn and stories from the incredible women who spin it.

✓ Costa Rica - for the rainforests, wildlife and insane beaches.

✓ Iceland - where the skies glow and the ground steams and everything is a dream.

✓ French Polynesia - for cultural connection, turquoise water and salty hair magic.

✓ Scotland - castles, kilts and pretending to be a princess running from her fate on a cliffside, need I say more?
